Appointed in May 2025, Niki Alexandrou brings over 20 years of experience as a finance counsel to her role as an Independent Non-Executive Board Member at the National Bank of Greece (Cyprus).
As Counsel at Norton Rose Fulbright LLP, a leading global legal practice, Ms Alexandrou advised financial institutions, supranationals, corporates, public bodies and funds across a broad range of sectors. Her areas of focus included project finance (infrastructure and energy), shipping finance, real estate finance and debt restructurings. She has led several high-impact and award-winning transactions, including the largest sustainability-linked financing in the shipping industry ($2.8 billion) and played a key role in complex cross-border negotiations. She also led local firm initiatives in AI legal innovation, Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability.
Earlier in her career, she worked at A&O Shearman in London and New York, advising on structured finance and derivatives for major investment banks and portfolio managers in cash, synthetic & hybrid structured finance transactions across all asset classes (CDOs, CLOs, CPPIs, derivatives). She also worked at the European Commission’s DG Competition (Brussels) as a case handler on cartel investigations.
Ms Alexandrou is also known for her leadership in social impact and DEI advocacy. She serves on the Advisory Board of Lean In, a global nonprofit supporting women in the workplace, and co-leads Lean In Network Greece (Athens). She is also Vice President and founding member of the Association of Cypriot Professionals in Greece (ACPG).
She is dually qualified as a Dikigoros (Piraeus Bar) and a Solicitor (Law Society of England and Wales) and was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2002. She holds a postgraduate certificate on “Sustainable Leadership” from the University of Cambridge, a Master of Laws (LLM) from University College London and a law degree (LLB) from University of Bristol.
